I woke up one morning recently feeling confused about a few things. The more I tried to work it out the more confused I got. The worst part was that it made it very difficult for me to still my mind, enter into God’s presence and meditate on Him.

Confusion is a tactic from the devil. Confusion keeps you unsettled and distracted. Confusion causes a darkness to settle over your mind and soul. Confusion stops you from being able to fully enter into God’s presence and find peace.

1 John 1:5 says “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all”. Confusion will try to keep you in darkness so we must – and we can – step into the light by speaking the truth of who God is and who we are in Him.

The Bible says in Romans chapters 7 and 8 that we have a higher nature and a lower nature. We have to call on our higher nature to lift us out of the darkness to which the lower nature naturally tends.

Our lower nature gets stuck in the problem and the result is confusion. Your mind will try to figure out the answers by weighing up the pros and cons, going round and round in circles, making you even more confused.

One thing I have learned about confusion is that it is not from God (1 Corinthians 14:33 – God is not the author of confusion) so whenever I find myself sinking into that place I know I need to get out of there fast.

Don’t try to work it out. You can not escape confusion by trying to solve the problem. You need your higher nature to begin to declare the truth and shine the light over your mind and spirit.

Our lower nature is used to being dominant (after all, we have given our lower nature many years of experience and control). Our higher nature is our redeemed, saved spirit and it’s our higher nature that knows and speaks the truth.

Let it speak. There is a part of you (your lower nature) that wants to sink into the confusion and the problem. But let your higher nature rise up and declare the word of God.

When you feel yourself getting stuck in confusion begin to declare a prayer like this one –

“God, you are not the author of confusion. You are light and in you there is no darkness at all. I have the spirit of truth, revelation and wisdom in me because you live in me. I don’t know what the answers are to these problems but this I do know – you are God and you are for me, and when you are for me nothing can be against me. I rise up in your power and light today. I receive your strength. I look to the heavens from where my help comes from. I live in victory because you died for me”.

“God, you remind me who I am and who I belong to. Nothing that comes against me can prosper but most of all NOTHING can separate me from your love. You rescue me. You lift me out of the pit I get myself stuck in. God, your Word says you lift me out of the miry pit of darkness and confusion. You put my feet on a solid rock. You are faithful”.

As you begin to declare this prayer you will feel the burden and the confusion lift. You may not have the answer immediately but confusion will no longer have a hold on you, weighing you down and holding you back. You will be able to enter into God’s presence to meditate on Him and receive from Him.

And you will also be amazed at how quickly you will get clarity and answers when you step out of the darkness into the light.

I heard someone say recently “Stillness is the incubation bed of revelation” and this is true. I found that once I prayed that prayer, I was able to shake off the confusion and enter into meditation with God and within a day God gave me the clarity, revelation and the answer I needed. I could not have worked it out better for myself.

The right answer and best answers only come to us when we are focused on the Truth and the Light instead of the problem.

There is only one way out of the darkness of confusion and that is to step into the Light.

And a final note – once you have stepped into the light, stay in the light. The devil will try to knock you down again. Stay in the light. When you are tempted to go back to confusion, refuse to go there. Continue your prayer declaration and remind yourself to – Stay in the light!

Praying peace and blessing for you this week!

God bless,

Leah
